SIGMA PHOTO PRO MONOCHROME MODE FOR ARTISTS & CREATORS

Amazing image quality in monochrome mode—thanks to Sigma's full-color capture system.

Sigma's full-color capture system makes possible ultra-high-resolution data.

Featured in all Sigma cameras, the Foveon X3 Direct Image Sensor utilizes the characteristics of silicon to absorb shorter wavelengths (blue) near its surface and longer wavelengths (green, then red) at deeper levels. This three-layer full-color capture system records the full-color information at each pixel location. Unlike conventional sensors, the Foveon X3 Direct Image Sensor requires no color interpolation process. Moreover, since there is no need for an optical low-pass filter, the sensor captures full RGB data for each pixel, making possible ultra-high resolution. The benefits of this system are particularly apparent in the high-frequency range, which is difficult to replicate. As a result of these advantages, Sigma's full-color capture system produces richly detailed images with a wide dynamic range. In addition to amazing resolution, photographers can expect smooth, beautiful gradations and superior representation of light and shadow.

With new monochrome mode, freely explore the power of RAW data.

Sigma and Foveon have added a new monochrome mode to Sigma Photo Pro, allowing photographers to create B&W photographs with RAW data and full RGB data for each pixel. After taking pictures with their Sigma digital cameras, photographers can now use the same data to produce full-color images or artistic monochrome compositions. Sigma Photo Pro brings out the creator in photographers, allowing them to express themselves directly and enjoy all that true monochrome photography has to offer.
