Low Pass Filter
In the case of the conventional image sensors, if for example, striped patterns exist in the photographic subject (for example, race curtain, a striped shirt, etc.),it is possible to see moire pattern problem.
For eliminating the moire pattern Low-Pass filters (blur filter) are applied to mosaic type image sensors, but this will cause reduction of resolution and image detail.
The FOVEON X3® direct image sensor does not generate moire pattern and captured all three colors at every pixel location, ensuring the capture of full, complete color. It efficiently reproduces color more accurately, and offers sharper resolution and retains full details.
