The robust field camera "SD10." |
Two flood-tides, human and scenic photography
While film camera and digital camera technologies were competing each other, a new super field camera called SIGMA SD10 was born with it and brought a color quality which cannot be overlooked.
The FOVEON image sensor which captures all RGB colors at each and every pixel is at the heart of this camera.
It is not necessary to describe anew the height of the quality which this sensor brings forth here. The dynamic and delicate tones existing in various patterns in the scenery. While the FOVEON Image Sensor, produces a remarkable image resolution, results of Conventional CCD Sensors are still comparatively weak.

The SIGMA SD10 has exclusive advanced features
|
 |
However, the FOVEON image sensor is not the only feature of the SD10 which indicates the ability of this camera, I will mention some more points.
The dust protector located in the lens mount part of the camera, affords good protection when changing the lens, under various conditions. It is isolates the image sensor, if the lens is changed under severe conditions like mountain, strong winter wind, snow, or dust. Instead of using the time and effort for cleaning the image sensor, it is possible to use concentrate on photography.
The mirror-up function tells more about the SD10s sophisticated nature as a field camera.
Regardless of the digital or analog, mirror up function is a single lens reflex camera tradition of Sigma since the SA300 which was Sigmas first AF SLR camera.
When enjoying close-up photography of a flower etc., or when a tripod must be stood to the weak ground, use of a mirror-up helps improve the image quality of a work is a fact which many people get to know.
The point where the tripod is attached to the cameras bottom part also deserves attention. This point should provide a great balance, when camera is attached to the tripod.
The functions of this camera fulfill all requirements. Many of its outstanding features are not found on many cameras.

The extensive lens line-up of SIGMA |
 |
Moreover, the extensive versatile lens group of Sigma is a huge backbone in photography.
The extensive lens line-up of Sigma from tele-photo to super-wide angle, can be used with SD or SA series cameras.
In addition, two new DC zoom lenses, which are exclusive for digital SLR cameras, are very small, light weight, and very suitable to field photography.

Enjoyment of image processing
|
 |
Furthermore, processing after shooting is another pleasure with SD cameras.
The enjoyment of digital image processing is similar to experiencing monochrome processing in the darkroom, when the picture is rising from development bath. The same feeling can be experienced by Sigma Photo Pro processing of an image on the display. This is only exclusive to Sigma SD users. Various image processing, such as light and darkness and contrast, can be performed easily, however, this is a little problem, I started to spend time in front of computer a little longer.

Sample images |
Please click the"X3F" or "JPEG"
button to download the sample images. All sample X3F (Raw data)
images are taken by SIGMA SD10 and converted to JPEG format by
Photo Pro software.
JPEG sample pictures are processed in "Default" mode (X3F mode) and saved in sRGB
color space.
It is necessary to download SIGMA Photo Pro Software from Download
and then install to your computer in order to review and process X3F images. |
