Born in Tokyo on October 29th, 1963, Mr. Kawaguchi became a freelance photographer after working for a commercial studio as an assistant and for a TV studio, where he mainly photographed singers and entertainers. In 1994, he took a break from photography due to retinal detachment, but in 2000, he found photography as his lifework again. Currently, he takes photographs based around a theme “people's daily lives both domestic and overseas” and is continuing this project in Laos, East Asia. He has been going there regularly since 1995 after experiencing retinal detachment. His family home is in Hachijo Island, Tokyo.
